Send the full passenger and luggage picture
Tell the rental company how many adults and children are traveling and describe the bags, stroller and other equipment. Seat count alone does not tell you whether everything will fit with the required restraints installed.
Ask for written confirmation of any reserved child seat or booster and discuss the child's size and the applicable requirements. Do not leave this decision to a rushed conversation after landing.
Keep arrival essentials accessible
Pack the items needed during airport procedures and the first drive where you can reach them without emptying the main luggage. Include clothing for the first night and the confirmations needed at the rental desk.
Keep passports and documents under adult control. A delayed suitcase should not prevent you from reaching the hotel with the essentials.
Give the vehicle handover enough time
Before driving, check the seat setup, luggage security, air conditioning and how to contact the rental company. Ask for help with equipment you do not understand and follow the manufacturer's fitting instructions.
Keep sight lines clear and secure loose items. Do not solve a space problem by putting luggage in a child's seating area or removing a needed restraint.
Choose an achievable first drive
Children may be tired or hungry by the time the flight formalities are complete. A simple meal and a nearby first night can be more comfortable than a long transfer with several stops.
Set up navigation while parked and let another adult manage messages when possible. Plan breaks in established places with safe parking, and avoid scheduling the first paid activity around an optimistic airport exit time.
Before you go
- Save the confirmed pickup or return instructions offline.
- Check the airport code and the rental location.
- Allow time for luggage and vehicle handover.
- Keep the first or final drive realistic.
