A wildlife and beach stay

Manuel Antonio combines a protected coastal landscape with hotels, restaurants and nearby Quepos. It works well for travelers who want a national park day followed by time at the beach. The area spreads along a hilly road rather than a single flat resort strip.

Choose a hotel location carefully. A sea view may come with stairs, a steep driveway or a short drive to dinner. Quepos offers a different practical base, with everyday services and access to the road toward the park.

Book the park through the official system

Check the SINAC website for the visit date, available entry times and current park rules. Manuel Antonio tickets are sold through the official online reservation system. Keep your confirmation accessible and check the identification details used for the booking.

A guided tour and an admission ticket are separate arrangements unless the operator explicitly includes both. Verify what your purchase covers. Opening days, allowed items and trail access can change, so review the instructions close to your visit rather than relying on an old itinerary.

The drive and arrival near the entrance

The coastal approach uses Route 34 toward Quepos, followed by the local road to Manuel Antonio. Expect hills, curves, buses and pedestrians on the final section. Slow down and follow signs even when the destination looks close on the map.

Confirm the correct entrance and parking arrangement before leaving your hotel. Paid parking near the park may be privately operated and is separate from park admission. Ask for the price and terms before leaving the car, and do not assume every roadside person is a park official.

Build a manageable park day

Give the park its own morning rather than adding it to a long transfer. Bring suitable footwear and carry permitted essentials according to the current rules. Humidity and uneven ground can make a short walk more tiring than expected.

Keep your distance from animals and secure food and small belongings. Wildlife is wild: sightings vary, and feeding or touching animals is inappropriate. Leave the afternoon free for rest, a meal or another beach visit based on conditions and your group's energy.
